Elkenburg Park
A beautiful day for beautification! In January, South Haven Garden Club embarked on a plan to enhance the existing beauty in Elkenburg Park. Our committee met weekly throughout the winter and into spring. Our designs and donation were approved by City of South Haven.
Our vision is now a reality. We collaborated with Artscapes Outdoor Living Spaces, who prepared the garden beds, and city employee Ahni Turner who assisted with design. Long-time neighbor, Miss Dorothy Sherrod, graciously donated some of her own plants to add to the park. We are grateful for her support and guidance. This is just the beginning. Our club members will continue adding plants, maintaining, and watering throughout the season.
Special thanks to Jody Gross, Paula Kraynak, Betty Walther, Steven Walther, Jeanne Burkart and Lisa Stegall for your hard work! You truly outdid yourselves!

Garden Walk 2025
Thank you everyone who helped make this year's garden walk a success!
It takes numerous club members who volunteer to plan, organize, set-up, tear down, make cookies, hand-craft boutique items, run the treasure barn and plant sale, advertise, sell tickets, greet guests and tidy the host grounds. A special thank you to the home owners who generously open their beautiful gardens to the public. Thank you also to the Liberty Hyde Bailey Museum for letting us use their beautiful grounds and to our generous sponsors: Barden's Farm Market, DeGroots, Van Til's Greenhouse, Jonker's Garden Center, My Town Ace Hardware, Murphy's Antique Mall, North Shore Garden Center, South Haven Chamber of Commerce, South Haven Visitor's Bureau and the VanBuren Conservation District.
Most of all, thank you patrons who visited the gardens and shopped at the boutique, treasure barn and plants. We hope you enjoyed a wonderful day!
-See you next July-

Several SHGC club members volunteered during a FLEECE & Thank You event at Senior Services of Van Buren County. Members cut & tied the blankets which will be delivered to sick children in hospitals throughout the State of Michigan.

In 2024 our garden club Board approved a grant for the purchase of adult, young adult, and children's books to be added to the South Haven Memorial Library collection. The books were to focus on “horticulture, gardening, floral and landscape design, plant and bird life, and appreciation of the natural beauties of the State of Michigan”, reflecting the club's by-laws.
The library purchased books and set-up an area to display them with a sign thanking our garden club. Each book contains a bookplate noting that the donation was from the South Haven Garden Club.
Stanley Johnson Park
A beautiful Friday! SHGC members volunteered their time on May 31 to plant 340 plants at the City of South Haven’s beautiful Stanley Johnson Park! We had so much fun! Thank you to everyone who came out and generously donated their gardening hands. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Beautification is just one of our community program missions. We hope everyone visiting this park will enjoy the flowers.
Bridge Flowers
Perfect morning for planting flowers! Members of the SHGC came out to support The City of South Haven, Rotary Club of South Haven, Michigan, Bronson South Haven, National Honor Society and SHOUT for South Haven planting begonias at the Dyckman Bascule Bridge. Here are just a few photos of the helping hands. There were a record number of happy volunteers today!!! Elks Club Spring Fling 2024

South Haven Spring Into Giving Day - 2024
SHGC was honored to be a recipient of the 2nd Annual Spring into Giving Day in South Haven. New Holland Tasting Room donated a portion of the day's sales to our club. Club members gathered for an “unofficial” meeting at New Holland to also contribute to the event.
